[ensembl-dev] We will be freezing Ensembl Rapid Release [EXT]

Excellent.
I did a quick crawl through the directories (as there is no metadata.json file anymore), and all of the ones from the old rapid seem to be there :-)
Are there plans to add something like the rapid metadata file to the FTP, as crawling the site, just to get the available GCA numbers, is a bit suboptimal.

Dear Michael,

All credit to the Ensembl team! Thank you!

Yes there is an FTP site for data available in Ensembl beta - https://ftp.ebi.ac.uk/pub/ensemblorganisms/ [ftp.ebi.ac.uk]<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__ftp.ebi.ac.uk_pub_ensemblorganisms_&d=DwMFaQ&c=D7ByGjS34AllFgecYw0iC6Zq7qlm8uclZFI0SqQnqBo&r=dlKDUfCS4BkNAxVmG7MDyU6N7Vlg2I7v-PtmkCotvMo&m=e1DsVdc5aifa-jXyZLuRRcX0tfuDxNfEIBQR2AyaXqjTe-3QNzvwGraE-nh7y49Y&s=au--nkmPx8HP9e_rJ9J6id7BJewQ9Xc0PeAtADZjnUc&e=>

Specific FTP links for species on beta are available in the right hand panel of each species home page.

Please note - the beta FTP file structure is not the same as in Rapid Release https://ftp.ensembl.org/pub/rapid-release/ [ftp.ensembl.org]<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__ftp.ensembl.org_pub_rapid-2Drelease_&d=DwMFaQ&c=D7ByGjS34AllFgecYw0iC6Zq7qlm8uclZFI0SqQnqBo&r=dlKDUfCS4BkNAxVmG7MDyU6N7Vlg2I7v-PtmkCotvMo&m=e1DsVdc5aifa-jXyZLuRRcX0tfuDxNfEIBQR2AyaXqjTe-3QNzvwGraE-nh7y49Y&s=Z8DqMasKj0fCztQrcp2ryXgcq1BndJJltSPbYXEvxLQ&e=>

We will post blogs and messages if there are any modifications to the FTP file structure for beta.

Thanks and best regards

Jorge

Hi Jorge,

Great work, the new site looks very smooth.

Will there be an accompanying FTP location for the collected data, as currently it is split between rapid and regular (and doesn’t include the new data from beta).

Best regards,

Michael

Hi,

All Rapid Release data, including Release 65, has been uploaded into the new Ensembl Beta site. New genome data will only be released onto the Ensembl Beta site [beta.ensembl.org]<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__beta.ensembl.org_&d=DwMFAg&c=D7ByGjS34AllFgecYw0iC6Zq7qlm8uclZFI0SqQnqBo&r=dlKDUfCS4BkNAxVmG7MDyU6N7Vlg2I7v-PtmkCotvMo&m=F115NWboBWeYBqUUNr3CxqoDX2knSsrtdPKHnD0Z8GF0ly-n_O1apyuDfXYJdVpd&s=1541LcB6k9AjCn9i-t1YIIWz7ejIWEl9yEn1aoxq4i8&e=>.

The Ensembl Rapid Release website will remain active for the foreseeable future, however, the data and species set will no longer be updated. If you feel that this change will have a significant impact on your analyses, please let us know by emailing the Ensembl Helpdesk<mailto:helpdesk at ensembl.org>.

The up-to-date versions of all of these data* will be accessible from the new Beta Ensembl site. However, we will continue to provide access to the data that was frozen on Ensembl Rapid Release genome browser [rapid.ensembl.org]<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__rapid.ensembl.org_&d=DwMFAg&c=D7ByGjS34AllFgecYw0iC6Zq7qlm8uclZFI0SqQnqBo&r=dlKDUfCS4BkNAxVmG7MDyU6N7Vlg2I7v-PtmkCotvMo&m=F115NWboBWeYBqUUNr3CxqoDX2knSsrtdPKHnD0Z8GF0ly-n_O1apyuDfXYJdVpd&s=OUSY9bdGeG3OwTLN9cjZsVvsScUHQFPJCOIwEDfye8o&e=> and FTP site [ftp.ensembl.org]<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__ftp.ensembl.org_pub_rapid-2Drelease_&d=DwMFAg&c=D7ByGjS34AllFgecYw0iC6Zq7qlm8uclZFI0SqQnqBo&r=dlKDUfCS4BkNAxVmG7MDyU6N7Vlg2I7v-PtmkCotvMo&m=F115NWboBWeYBqUUNr3CxqoDX2knSsrtdPKHnD0Z8GF0ly-n_O1apyuDfXYJdVpd&s=AWmvK1D4HdBoFq1Nm2untVEY8hZRaRXx6e0f5cnOaIA&e=>.
