Hi Will,
Thank you for the response. Yes, initially I got the stats from the
Ensembl assembly page. However, I figured not all gene models made it into
VEP through some filtering criteria, so it would be nice to know how many
gene models/transcripts are in the VEP database.
I'll read about plugin development. I could see this naievly working by
looping through the serialized Perl objects and just getting a list of
genes/transcripts. I'm assuming this is being done to check the variant
effect when looking up a mutation in a VCF file.
