[ensembl-dev] GeneAdaptor fetch_nearest_Gene_by_Feature deprecated

I see that the perl API GeneAdaptor in version 74 fetch_nearest_Gene_by_Feature has been deprecated.

Is there a recommended alternative for this function? I’m particularly interested in whether there is anything that will work reliably with the base_variation_feature of an IntergenicVariationAllele, StructuralVariationOverlapAllele, RegulatoryFeatureVariationAllele, and MotifFeatureVariationAllele.
