[ensembl-dev] New genome assembly updates

Please note the NCBI assembly information resources:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/genome/assembly/
With a listing of 834 released genome assemblies:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/genome/assembly/organism/
For UCSC genome releases, if the assembly isn't in this
release system, we do not consider it available for use.
But of course, we are primary concerned with vertebrate
assemblies only.

For plant genomes, CoGe maintain this excellent list;

We also don't currently operate a pre-site system in the same way that Ensembl do.

In the case of rice, we're waiting for the completion of the submission of the new IRGSP assembly to the archives, which we hope will be completed in time for Ensembl Genomes release 15 (probably late summer), though this is by no means definite.
