[ensembl-dev] New genome assembly updates

We distribute software which uses reprocessed Ensembl genomes as one of its data sources. When new assemblies come out we often get bug reports asking for the new genome to be made available. I'm aware of pre.ensembl.org which often has the genome in progress, but we've seen a few cases recently where a new assembly has been released but there's no sign of it in Ensembl (the most recent example was the Msu7 rice genome which has been out since October of last year but isn't mentioned anywhere on the Ensembl sites).

Is there somewhere which lists the future upgrade plans for the various genomes? Is it ever worth contacting someone at Ensembl to ask about a specific assembly (I'm assuming that everyone is well aware of what's coming out and get fed up of people asking about them). Basically I'd like to know what I can tell our users when they ask about an assembly which doesn't appear anywhere in Ensembl yet.

Thanks

Simon.
