[ensembl-dev] Ensembl Genomes Release 9

The Ensembl Genomes Project is pleased to announce release 9 of Ensembl 
Genomes <http://www.ensemblgenomes.org/>

The main highlights of this release are:

* Software migration to Ensembl 62

* 2 new genomes added to Ensembl Protists 
<http://protists.ensembl.org/index.html>, the plant pathogen /Pythium 
ultimum /and the kinetoplastid parasite/ Leishmania
   major.

* /3 new ascomycete genomes added to Ensembl Fungi 
<http://fungi.ensembl.org/index.html>. /Fusarium oxysporum, //Gibberella 
moniliformis, ///a pathogenic fungus that
   causes ear and stalk rot in maize //and /Gibberella zeae, 
/responsible for headblight disease in wheat.
   Also, for protists, a complete new build for /Saccharomyces 
cerevisiae/ to reflect the latest assembly from SGD 
<http://www.yeastgenome.org/>.

* African rice genome, /Oryza glaberrima/, added to Ensembl Plants 
<http://plants.ensembl.org/index.html>.

* /Daphnia pulex, /the most common species of water flea and the first 
crustacean to be sequenced, has been added to Ensembl 
<http://metazoa.ensembl.org/index.html>
Metazoa <http://metazoa.ensembl.org/index.html>/. /The /Anopheles 
gambiae /gene set has also been updated to reflect the latest Vectorbase 
<http://www.vectorbase.org/> release. //
