Could you not use the $seq->start() and $seq->end() coordinates (in
combination with, if needed, the transcript start/end coordinates in
case they are relative) to create a slice object using these
coordinates?

Is it possible to get a slice(coordinates of) the 5' and 3' UTRs of a 
transcript, as opposed to just the sequence using
$transcrpt->five_prime_utr
