Hello,
If you would like to brush up on your API skills, or learn it from
scratch, consider our upcoming API course in Cambridge. You can sign up
for all four days, or choose the module(s) you are most interested in.
Note: if you are a beginner to the Perl API, you must attend day 1
(Core) before attending other modules.
ENSEMBL API WORKSHOPS
Date and Time: Tues 1 April (Core), Wed 2 April (Variation), Thurs 3
April (Regulation) and/or Fri 4 April (Compara) 9:30-17:00

Prerequisite: Some experience in Perl programming. Beginners to the
Ensembl API are welcome.
The Ensembl project provides a comprehensive and integrated source of
annotation of mainly vertebrate genome sequences. This workshop is
aimed at researchers and developers interested in exploring Ensembl
beyond the website. The workshop covers the core, compara, variation and
functional genomics (regulation) databases and APIs.

For each of these the database schema and the API design as well as the
most important objects and their methods will be presented. This will be
followed by practical sessions in which the participants can put
theoretical learning into practice by writing their own Perl scripts.
