[ensembl-announce] Ensembl Rapid Release

Dear all,

We are pleased to announce the launch of the Ensembl Rapid Release <https://rapid.ensembl.org/index.html> site. Ensembl Rapid Release is a new, lightweight genome browser designed to allow quick release of the latest genome annotation for a large number of vertebrate and non-vertebrate species.

For all species presented in the Ensembl Rapid Release site, the available data and functionality will include:
Gene annotation
Repeat annotation
Protein feature annotation
BLAST functionality
File dumps including transcript and protein sequences and the soft masked genome sequence through the Ensembl Rapid Release FTP site <ftp://ftp.ensembl.org/pub/rapid-release>.
