The Ensembl Genomes Project is pleased to announce release 12 of Ensembl
Genomes. <http://www.ensemblgenomes.org/>
This release contains 5 new genomes, bringing the total genomes
supported to 335 <http://www.ensemblgenomes.org/info/species>. Main
highlights are:
* Software migration to Ensembl 65
* Operon data from RegulonDB <http://regulondb.ccg.unam.mx> for /E. coli
K12/ <http://bacteria.ensembl.org/e_coli_k12> in Ensembl Bacteria
<http://bacteria.ensembl.org/index.html>
* A new species (/Ashbya gossypii
<http://fungi.ensembl.org/Ashbya_gossypii/Info/Index>) /and manually
curated annotation from a new resource for yeast! This is the first
release of Ensembl Fungi <http://fungi.ensembl.org/index.html>
containing data from PomBase <http://www.pombase.org/>, a new
genome-centric resource (developed by Ensembl Genomes, the University of
Cambridge, and University College London) for the fission yeast
/Schizosaccharomyces pombe/
<http://fungi.ensembl.org/Schizosaccharomyces_pombe/Info/Index>.
*The addition of /Cyanidioschyzon merolae/
<http://plants.ensembl.org/cyanidioschyzon_merolae> to Ensembl Plants
<http://plants.ensembl.org/index.html> and significant updates to
/Physcomitrella patens/
<http://plants.ensembl.org/physcomitrella_patens> and the soybean
/Glycine max/ <http://plants.ensembl.org/glycine_max>
* Three new genomes in Ensembl Metazoa <http://metazoa.ensembl.org>:
/Atta cephalotes/ <http://metazoa.ensembl.org/atta_cephalotes>, a
leaf-cutting ant, /Tribolium castaneum/
<http://metazoa.ensembl.org/Tribolium_castaneum>, the red flour beetle,
and /Bombyx mori/ <http://metazoa.ensembl.org/bombyx_mori>, a
domesticated silkmoth
